Torben Moth, CEO of Rosa Danica says: ”We grow different Kordes Roses. It is important to us that we keep the use of chemicals throughout our production to a minimum. Some of the newer varieties of Kordana pot roses are naturally high, so we produce without PGR. This gave us the challenge, if we could grow them completely organic.”
The biological roses are produced in a greenhouse in raw soil with organic chicken dirt, which makes the plant grow. “We give the plant organic plant extract along with rainwater, which gives it the possibility to develop into a beautiful plant with nice green leaves and big flowers”, Torben says. “We use biological control to ensure that the plant stays healthy. Above the plants we use mechanical movement to make it nice and compact.”
Right now Rosa Danica has 6 different colors in their line of biological roses. “We are still testing different varieties and we are expecting more colors in the future”, Torben says. There are future plans for export as well. “Right now we are only selling a very minimum of the biological roses. We try to make small tests with our customers throughout Europe, to have as much feedback from the end consumers as possible.”
“The demand for sustainable products is increasing and we have to be aware of this if we want to stay in this business. It is important that we do everything we can to protect our planet and make it a safe place for our children, their children and so on. We think there is a small market for 100% Bio grown plants.”
