Recently Dutch orchid grower Steef van Adrichem received an order he won't soon forget. Anco Pure Vanda from Wateringen had been asked to send no less than 100,000 pink and 20,000 blue Vanda orchids to India for the wedding of Isha Ambani.

She is the daughter of the richest man in India. Her father Mukesh Ambani, an oil and gas magnate, is estimated to be worth around 41.5 billion euros. Tomorrow, December 12, she will marry Anand Piramal, son of the wealthy businessman Ajay Piramal, whose net worth is around 4.5 billion euros.

Last Thursday the last flowers were sent to India by plane. The order amounts to around 50,000 euros, and according to Adrichem, it's enough flowers to fill two semi-trucks with. "Normally the week of 'Sinterklaas' (a traditional holiday in Dutch-speaking Europe) is not such a good week for us, but this order made up for that."
