NL: Energy-neutral greenhouse breaks ground

Ronico has driven the first pile to construct an energy-neutral greenhouse on Middenweg in Venhuizen, the Netherlands. This project marks a milestone for the family business where, according to them, tulips will be grown more efficiently and sustainably than ever before.

New greenhouse, new possibilities
Ronico's new greenhouse will consist of five sections, all equipped with the latest technologies, including two Furora bunching machines per section. The infrastructure will up space optimization thanks to double cropping layers and an advanced container system. Reuse of water and the application of an ATES system as an alternative energy source are poised to render the greenhouse environmentally friendly and fully energy-neutral.

Special guests and local involvement
The driving of the first pile was attended by all Ronico employees, with special guests Cor de Wit and Riet de Wit-Fit, the founders of the company. They had the honor of driving the first pile. This project is made possible with the close cooperation between many local companies, such as Polytechniek, KaRo, Schadenberg, De Wit-Besseling, and Bercomex. KG Greenhouses are realizing the greenhouse construction and KG Systems is supplying the container system.

A sustainable future
Ronico is reportedly the world's largest tulip producer, and the construction of the new greenhouse fits with the strategy to strengthen this position. Ronico expects the new greenhouse to be operational by December 1, 2024.
