Kenya: Agriom starts own selection garden in Limuru

Agriom launches its own selection site in Limuru, Kenya. The selection location will serve as a trial site where various cut flower crops (such as delphinium, hydrangea, roses, and alstroemeria) will be cultivated and selected under local conditions. "By concentrating the selection trials in one location, we can efficiently organize our selection work," says Agriom director Jaap Stelder. "This location is purely for selection purposes; we do not intend to commercially distribute our cut flower crops from Limuru."

Agriom's selection garden is located right next to Flora Delight, a well known producer of high quality cut flowers. As different crops are being tested, both indoor and outdoor facilities will be used. The planned setup is being prepared to be made operational by mid May.

Agriom is a family owned breeding company in ornamental crops and soft fruit, based in De Kwakel, the Netherlands. The company combines the breeding of new varieties with the production of plant material for fast introduction into the market.
