FloraHolland will pay special attention to ensuring that the flowers and floral decorations in the Pavilion, where growers, breeders, exporters and other horticultural companies are represented, meet the set quality criteria for Russia.
Earlier this month, FloraHolland expressed its concerns about the trade in flowers with Russia, especially the effect on the price-setting. However, the general price-setting last week for flowers at FloraHolland matched the figures for the same week last year. The effects of the situation on the borders to Russia are not visible at the auction.
Russia held talks this week with the phytosanitary services in Latvia, Lithuania and Hungary, and requested tightening of the inspections of flowers destined for Russia.
FloraHolland is monitoring the developments in export to Russia daily and working together with LTO, VGB and VBN to limit the negative consequences of the stricter controls for the sector.
