NL: Three companies present products at assortment days

From 14 to 17 June, De Zonnebloem Jonge Planten BV, Henk Braam Varens BV and MicroFerns BV are organising the assortment days at Kalslagerweg 20 in De Kwakel. “The second week of June will be packed with horticultural activities in the Netherlands and we would like to pick up on this with our assortment days,” says Bart Oostveen of De Zonnebloem Jonge Planten BV.

In addition to an introduction to the three companies a selection from the full assortment of terrace plants and ferns will be on display for the visitors.

Terrace plants
De Zonnebloem Jonge Planten BV specialises in the propagation and breeding of terrace plants. The young plants are for sale as unrooted and rooted cuttings, half-mature plants in pots for mail orders or as custom-made plants. Most varieties are available year-round. Unique products in the assortment are: Anisodontea Elegans series, Abutilon series, Mandevilla Bloom Bells series, Tibouchina selection, Hibiscus Moscheutos Extreme series, Lantana stem series, Thunbergia assortment and a full assortment for tub plant stem culture.

Unique yellow variety
During the assortment days a new yellow cultivar of the Mandevilla Bloom Bells series will be displayed. Mandevilla Bloom Bells Yellow is an early flowering plant with big, dark yellow flowers which remain on the plant for a long time. This series was only available as red and pink cultivars until now. The Mandevilla Bloom Bells are well branching and early flowering plants with large flowers and bright colours. Suitable for 10 cm pots, branched, up to 17 cm pots with a pyramid/rack. The plant is also quite suitable for bowls and hanging pots.

Ferns
Henk Braam BV specialises in the propagation of a wide assortment of winter-hardy and tropical ferns, sown as well as propagated in vitro. The ferns are sold on seed trays or as transplanted plants, standard 252, 153, 104 and 72 hole tray sizes. However, custom-made supplies are possible too. Sales are mainly focused on the European, Asian and USA markets. The company operates a special department for the USA and Canada.

Tissue culture
MicroFerns BV specialises in the propagation of ferns by means of (in vitro) tissue culture. A major advantage is that the plants propagated in vitro can be transported to all parts of the world. The plants are supplied in agar in a 24 hole tray, which is particularly suitable for propagators and growers. The assortment comprises various varieties of Nephrolepis, Microsorum, Phlebodium and Humata.
