Ecuadorian farmers' efforts to be environmentally friendly

Going beyond offering flowers
Since the establishment of the farm, in 1999, making the world more beautiful has been one of their main goals. "We want to fill the world with flowers and make it a naturally beautiful place. And we cannot achieve this goal by only offering the flowers, we also have to take a closer look at our entire production process", says Moreano.
First free of chemical soil grower in Ecuador
So, next to taking care of our employees by providing them an atmosphere of safety, socially responsible work, and insurance within the company, they tried to make their production as environmentally friendly as possible. "And we finally succeed. After four years of investigation and investing, we reached this final goal. We have implemented a system of bio-soil disinfection and we are now a certified free of chemical soil grower. So, our soils are free of agrochemicals and we are proud to say that we are the first grower in Ecuador that received this certification by the United Nations Industrial Development."
Eternal Flower
Eternal Flower grows hypericums on 8 ha and gypsophillas on 8 ha in Quito, Ecuador. The grow five hypericum varieties of Dutch breeder Kolster B.V. and one gypsophilla variety, namely the XLence from Israeli breeder Danziger. This variety is highly suitable for dyeing and that's exactly what's being done at Eternal Flower. They dye them in six colours. "We export to over 24 countries and every year, we see an increasing demand for gypsophillas, and especially in our main market, the USA."
