Small Colombian growers visiting FlowerTrials 2017

A group of 24 small ornamental growers from Colombia, travelling abroad for the very first time, attended the FlowerTrials 2017 last week in Holland. The initiative is part of the recently created Association of Colombian Nurseries and Ornamental Growers, Colviveros, with the support of the Holland Embassy in Colombia.

The new Trade Association wants to drive local production, sustainability programs and added value amongst Colombian Nurseries and small ornamental foliage and potted plants growers around the South American country to stimulate the growth of clusters, networks and production chains to boost Quality Management.

As indicated by Jairo Cadavid, president of Colviveros, the FlowerTrials will encourage the renewal of plant varieties grown in Colombia and is the best way to promote the importance of the preservation of the intellectual property rights amongst the attendees.
