New 3 ha nursery for Dutch Yucca grower
Thursday, June 15th was an historic day for Luiten Kwekerij. The first pile was driven for the new nursery building in Pijnacker, the Netherlands.
Yucca is now grown on about 6,000 m2, next year this will be done on an area of 9,000 m2.
Loading is still ongoing at the Anjerweg 4b in Bleiswijk.
Luiten Kwekerij is still located in Bleiswijk, the Netherlands, but later this year their new building in Pijnacker will be completed. In the new 3 hectare nursery (now still just over 1.8 hectares), the first Mediterranean trade should be transshipped early next year. By doubling the acreage, they hope to generate more trade, and they will scale up the Yucca program.
The first piles of more than 900 are already in the ground.
Luiten Kwekerij has chosen to build from scratch in order to manage the company's growth properly. Because of the increasing trade in both the Mediterranean trade and in Yucca, the nursery in Bleiswijk, was becoming too small to work efficiently. Processing of larger orders also played a major role in the new project. While the company initially opted to rent external space, large orders will soon be handled in a processing space of more than 3,000 m2.
