At the beginning of the year Royal FloraHolland fine-tuned its strategy and decided to position itself as a service provider. The structure of the organization will be adjusted to reflect this change.
The Commerce Department will be discontinued and will be replaced by a Growers' Services department and a Market & Sales department.
This moment led Servaas van der Ven, member of the MT and responsible for Commerce, to reflect on his future. After giving shape to the Growers' Services, he has taken the decision to continue his career outside of Royal FloraHolland. Servaas will leave the organization at the end of 2018.
"After more than 27 years it is time for me to start a new phase in my life. I have worked at Royal FloraHolland with much enjoyment and passion. I feel connected with all the colleagues, growers and customers with whom I have worked over the years. In particular, I have always been inspired by the contact with entrepreneurs and family businesses. I therefore hope to combine this in a new future. I see it as my responsibility to leave my club behind in a proper manner. Until 31 December, I am therefore 100% committed as supply officer for the Service for Growers to establish a great new organization. Until then, I hope to personally say farewell to as many people as possible."
Steven van Schilfgaarde: "I greatly regret that Servaas is leaving our organization. He is truly a figurehead for Royal FloraHolland and a trusted face for the customers. From his career perspective, I understand his choice. I am very grateful to Servaas for his contribution and the results he has achieved over the years. I am very pleased that until 1 January 2019, we are still making use of his knowledge and expertise in giving shape to the new Growers' Services department."
The change in structure and the concrete details of the new departments will be submitted for advice to the newly elected Works Council.
