Florensis Kenya exists for 20 years and last weekend this was celebrated with all employees in Kenya. For Florensis Kenya, the 20th anniversary is also the starting shot for the new construction of an Elite greenhouse to be ready for a sustainable future and a structural high quality level. Rian Hamer and Wim-Arie Hamer put the first pile of the new Elite construction in place.
In 1998 the company Hamer Kenya Ltd was founded in Kenya, the first African production location for Annuals and Perennials cuttings from Florensis. In the past 20 years, Florensis Kenya has grown from 1 hectare to a modern 14-hectare company. The biggest change took place in 2011 when the greenhouses and facilities of both neighbours were taken over and the company grew from 5 hectares to 14 hectares.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, one of the greenhouses was converted into a gala.
All 450 employees were welcomed with a glass of bubbles and there was plenty of entertainment. The highlight was a performance by the well-known comedian from Kenya, Willebroda with side-kick Awinja.
The foundation for the next 20 years was laid by placing the first pile of a new high-tech Elite department. The new construction should be ready at the beginning of 2019. This new Elite department is essential for Florensis to maintain the highest quality level and high delivery reliability. In addition, sustainability will be of significant importance.
