The first show garden created by a Finnish designer will showcase the modern biodiverse meadow garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019. Landscape designer and environmental biologist Taina Suonio uses Kekkilä-BVB substrates and decorative stones in the nature-like garden The Roots in Finland Kyrö Garden.
Taina’s passion for ecology will be evident with the inspirational choice of plants of Finnish meadows and woodland. As well as the butterfly garden section is conveying the message of the importance of pollinators to our ecosystem.
"When designing, I am always promoting biodiversity in cities. Implementing the results we have gathered in our research group at Helsinki University is a great advantage," explains Taina.
As part of the Space to grow category the Roots in Finland Kyrö Garden is highlighting solutions for sustainable urban life. For example, it provides an environment for butterflies and other pollinators, and presents stormwater solutions for home gardens. This cosy city garden brings the Finnish nature and heritage to a modern environment, and at the same time it showcases solutions for the challenges brought to the world by the climate change.
"Teaming up with The Roots in Finland Kyrö Garden is a great way to bring our company values into practice," states Nina Kinnunen, Brand and Communications Director of Kekkilä-BVB.
