Bradt's Brains

Rick Bradt's Brain Tumour Walk 2019

Rick Bradt of A.M.A. Horticulture is a Brain Tumour Survivor. "I'm one of the lucky ones who now lives a normal life (I had brain surgeries for a Pituitary Macro Adenoma in 2000, 2002, 2004). So many brain tumour patients are permanently disabled from their tumours (there are over 100 different types of brain tumours). Many patients don't survive long after diagnosis. The families of brain tumour patients go through an upheaval and in some cases, family members become the full-time caregivers with patients health deteriorating or going through difficult recoveries.

"Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada does a lot of things, but for me, patient and caregiver care through support, counselling, education is so critical. Patients and caregivers need information and that's how Connie & I got involved with BTFC back in 2002."

"By signing up for a Brain Tumour Walk, I’ve made a commitment to end brain tumours and to help provide the essential information and support that every person diagnosed deserves. Please come along as a team member or as a donor."

Your support of Bradt's Brains goes straight to helping patients, as well as to research, the set up of the National Brain Tumour Registry, and operation of the Brain Tumour Tissue Bank funded by BTFC.

"I'm a member of BTFC's national fundraising committee. I can tell you first hand, that the team at BTFC is dedicated, caring and work their tails off for brain tumour patients", Rick continues. "Many are involved, because they, or someone they are connected to, has been affected by a brain tumour. They know how awful these darn tumours are.

"I hope you’ll join me in this Canada-wide effort to help patients and put a stop to this disease.

#BradtsBrains Windsor: June 8, 2019
A Bradt's Brains Windsor team will be walking for the fourth year in a row and they'd love to have you join in on June 8th, having some fun and raising some money for BTFC. Family, friends and some of our staff will be there this year. Our team goal is to raise $1,000+ for the Brain Tumour Walk Windsor. Visit the Windsor Brain Tumour Walk Facebook page.  A.M.A. is a proud sponsor of the Windsor Walk.

#BradtsBrains NL: June 7, 2019
Connie and Rick will also be taking a second #BradtsBrains team to the Netherlands for a special 5km walk in support of BTFC. Family and friends in Holland will be walking with them, together with Stichting Hersentumorfonds Nederland (Dutch Brain Tumour charity) to raise funds and awareness. "We invite anyone who will be in the Broeksterwoude, Friesland area on Friday, June 7 to come and walk with us!

"If you can't make it to the Walks, you can support us, or any of the Bradt's Brains team members with a donation. Large or small, every dollar makes a difference."

All money raised through Brain Tumour Walk events strengthens the national movement to end this life-changing disease and brings hope to individuals and families across the country:

  • Hope for progress in discovering the cause of brain tumours.
  • Hope for better treatments for every child and adult diagnosed.
  • And most of all, the hope for a cure.

"Thank you for supporting me in my Brain Tumour Walk, and much more importantly, for helping the 55,000 Canadians who live with a brain tumour today. It means a lot to many."
