2020 is a turning point for the Diamantina series as no fewer than 9 new varieties will be introduced to the market this year. Since the first yellow Mandevilla called Diamantina Opale ‘Citrine’ was introduced in 2011, D.H.M. Innovations (DHMI) hasn't stopped creating and supplying the market with varieties featuring improved plant habits and new colors that, in turn, have opened the Mandevilla market to a wider audience worldwide.
Out of the 9 novelties to be introduced in 2020, two of them are highlighted:
- Diamantina Amethyst ‘Violet’
- Diamantina Quartz ‘Pink & Yellow’
The variety ‘Violet’ introduces a new color palette to the already existing wide range of Diamantina colors. The series/segment Amethyst was created to encompass all future violet varieties. The flower of Amethyst ‘Violet’ is large and star shaped. The variety belongs to the dipladenia type and is semi climbing.
The variety ‘Pink & Yellow” is a breakthrough variety that presents visual similarities to a sanderi type. The flowers are rounded and enhanced with a large yellow throat that creates a contrast to the deep rose color of the petals. The series/segment was named Quartz as all future varieties will be extremely solid and resistant to bad weather conditions, therefore, solid as quartz. Quartz ‘Pink & Yellow’ is a Dipladenia type and is semi climbing.
