"Calla is well known for its colors and flower shape. In the past it was mostly used as a cut flower, but recent genetics have created a wide range of compact cultivars which are used for pot plants production. The sales of this product is growing around the globe and gives growers high efficiency", explains Dimitris Dimitrou, the calla specialist at Fleurizon. This US-based full broker company recently added callas for pot cultivation to their assortment and they currently have more than 60 varieties available. "This is our new added value product, and we are proud to ship to our best partners around the globe." According to him, this is the new “money maker".

Versatile product
According to Dimitrou, the success of the pot calla lies in the fact that it is a versatile product. "It can be used by the consumer as a gift or as a wonderful veranda plant or even as an indoor flowering plant when sold at cold regions."
High efficiency
On top of that, also growers seem to be satisfied with the cultivation characteristics of this plant. "It gives the grower high efficiency, as it is a rather dense cultivation with high selling price and quick rotation. The cultivation varies between 8 and 12 weeks, with an average of 10 weeks."
Following are some comments of one of Fleurizon's customers: “Pot Calla solved my problems of choosing for a high-performance crop, it brings a very good revenue per square meter. I follow a simple and standard crop protection protocol; this makes my daily plant care easier. Thanks to Fleurizon I receive always top-quality bulbs, which is essential for this crop”.
Bulb sizes
There are four main bulb sizes, meaning the grower can choose to grow from mini pots up to big container pots. "This gives the privilege to the grower to choose the suitable pot size according to his or her market and way of growing."
Treatment prior to shipping
"We are able to ship year round top quality bulbs. All bulbs are treated prior to shipping by professionals, so that the crop immediately starts growing when potted at the grower. This is perhaps the most essential part of our job; only high experienced personnel can guarantee top results. Vast range of colors are offered, giving the possibility to the grower to achieve uniformity in flowering period and in plant growth. Fleurizon is ready to provide the grower with specific cultivation advise."
Programmable
Finally, pot Calla is a crop that can be well programmed when it comes to cultivation schedule, as the shipment dates are always known and confirmed long before shipping.
Dimitrou: "This is the new “money maker", challenge yourself with this unique product!"
