Sunday, March 8, International Women's Day will be celebrated. Particularly in Russia and Eastern Europe it is an important day where men give flowers to the women they know. Regarding this holiday Dekker Chrysanten invented a fun tradition; they give a bouquet of their own varieties of flowers to all female sales managers and marketers responsible for Eastern Europe at Dutch exporting companies. This year is no exception and Warja Abrosimova, Marketing Manager Eastern Europe at Dekker, is handing out bouquets at several exporters in Aalsmeer, Rijnsburg and Naaldwijk.
"Exporters have sold their flowers to Eastern Europe well", she says. "The wholesale is pleased, the retail is pleased, now, the pressure is on at the bouquet makers and florists. One point of concern is the number of claims regarding quality loss. On the one hand, the flowers suffered from the dark and wet weather lately. On the other hand, clients in Eastern Europe seem to have ordered quite early. It already started on February 12 this year. Usually, it is February 17 or 18. This isn't beneficial for the quality."
Also the Dutch shops are prepared for a higher turnover this weekend, partly because of the many Eastern European labor migrants in the country. Women's Day is there to show the power of the women, but also for the men to show their respect and appreciation for women and pamper them.
