Israeli propagators Cohen and Hishtil started to work on a project recently. The mother plants of the Dianthus genetics, that were kept these past years by Hishtil, will be moved to Cohen Propagation Nurseries. Cohen will supply the URC worldwide and Hishtil will continue to supply the young plants of these genetics to their clients.
Reason
The reason for this decision is mainly to centralize and increase the production of the unrooted cuttings of this genetics, explains Nomi Hen of Cohen. "Cohen specializes in unrooted cuttings production while Hishtil is specialized in rooting and production of young plants."
Clockwise: Dianthus Roselly, Red, Pink, Purple, Salmon and White.
11 varieties
Cohen will add 11 varieties to their commercial production; 5 Roselly varieties, 3 Colori, 1 Disco and 2 trial varieties. "The Roselly varieties are naturally compact, very early flowering, double flowers and scented and the Colori varieties are compact with bicolored double flowers", says Hen.
Dianthus Colori Joy, Naomi and Mica.
Increasing assortment
In addition to these varieties, they are in co-operation with the breeder Hybrida in order to look at more trial varieties and optional introductions for the next seasons.
Dianthus Disco
Available from week 34
The planning of the stock is based on the information provided by Hishtil and will be kept at Cohen together with other Dianthus genetics they have in their assortment. Cohen will start supplying orders from week 34, 2020, onwards.
