This June, Danziger showcased their novelties at Imperial Plants in the Netherlands. They hosted many growers, young plant producers and retailers from Europe. In order to better evaluate the new series and varieties for the coming season, the Danziger team, in cooperation with Imperial Plants, created a series of videos from the live show. "These videos are for the benefit of those who could not visit the exhibition and to bring the experience as close as possible to being there", says Ori Danziger, Deputy CEO.
The 2021 introductions include seven brand-new series and according to Shermer, they all bring real innovation with more color, more efficiencies and more profitability to growers and the rest of the value chain. All series are quickly featured in this overview video, but are also taking center stage in the separate videos that follow.
A significant breeding breakthrough presented was the new series of New Guinea Impatiens, Harmony Colorfall, that received a lot of interest from visitors and also from the trials. "This NGI is the first trailing line on the market, bred and selected for shade loving hanging baskets", says Koos van der Klugt, Managing Director Klugt Quality Plants, in the video.
Below all the videos:
HARMONY® Colorfall - "It is a great new series especially designed for hanging baskets. It is the first trailing New Guinea on the market that's really a breakthrough. They have beautiful flowers, strong colors and is very uniform. It is a perfect plant for in the shade."
MEGA PAZZAZ™ Portulaca - "It is really suitable for big pots, it is semi trailing, you can use it for hanging baskets or landscaping. The large flowers grab the attention at retail and in the garden. It is now available in 4 strong colors."
PAZZAZ™ NANO - "Nano is the name of a portulaca series that flowers early, is naturally compact and is very good in dry and hot circumstances. It is also one of the best varieties to have in the shop because it opens up very early and stays long open. It is also a very good variety to mix."
SCOOP ® Petunia - "The many 'flavors' of colors is really an attraction to the eye. It will sell itself on the retail floor and will draw the customers to this presentation. The SCOOP varieties can be grown in high density, they use very little PGRs, they tolerate both colder and warmer temperatures and they also perform very well at the consumer. SCOOP was introduced by the Dutch garden center Intratuin as a pilot and was very successful. Now it is offered exclusive with a full retail package as you can see it here."
SPLASH DANCE™ petunia series - "It is a speckled patterned petunia that holds its pattern during the summer very good. It has a very nice mounded shape, big flowers uniform and very good for a 12cm pot and larger. It performs also very good in bigger pots, so we think it is a big improvement for the market.
VANESSA™ - The Vanessa series can be divided in the normal and compact varieties. In this video, van der Klugt shows the Vanessa Compact in its strong points. "They have a very good and strong branching which can hold the flower, every bunch gives a good flower. It keeps flowering during the summer because it is heat tolerant and mildew resistant. It also has a very nice shape and you can use it in small and bigger pots."
Calibrachoa - COLIBRI™, LIA™, EYECONIC™, OMBRE™ - "Danziger have been improving the Colibri series for over the last three years and is very complete now; we have all the colors. It is a compact series, early blooming, needs very little PGR and is very suitable for 10 and even 12cm pot. It is very good for grower and retailers as it is compact, has flowers on top, very short internodes which are also giving a lot of flowers." In the video, he also describes the characteristics of the Lia, Eyeconic and Ombre series.
