Revolutionary infrared root zone heating system

The increasing pressure to reduce gas consumption, the urge for circular energy efficient solutions and the improving/accelerating production processes in our sector are a few contributing factors to the introduction of a new and revolutionary heating system in horticulture. Luiten Greenhouse is the exclusive dealer of this new technology developed by the company AHT.

As part of 'Next Generation Growing', during an extensive test at the Delphy Improvement Centre Bleiswijk carried out between December 2018 and November 2019, AHT infrared root zone heating systems have been applied in 6 growth tables as primary heating for the cultivation of Zamioculcas.

The infrared root zone heating systems have been placed immediately beneath the pots. Each growth table had a temperature sensor for the potting soil installed to directly control the heating systems.

In strawberry cultivation, the technology has been around for some time

This test has achieved the following results:

  • 59% less energy consumption compared to traditional tube heating
  • Completely fossil free energy
  • Reducing cultivation time with around 4 weeks
  • Fuller plant

Initiator of this project is the company AHT. Luiten Greenhouses has been exclusively approached for the further introduction of this new technology in horticulture worldwide. Ronald Kloppenburg, sales manager with the greenhouse builder: "We have already implemented this in many countries and presented it where possible in these times.

A further report of the test can be read here.
