Gregor Ziegler launches Timpor Hydrofibre

"New peat substitute is aggregate for substrates"

"We're stirring up the market of peat substitutes once again," Matthias Ziegler with Gregor Ziegler announces. With Timpor Hydrofibre, Ziegler expands, as of now, the wood fibre range with a particularly water-storing variation. “The product innovation promises to bring further momentum in the area of peat substitutes for the entire green market,” Matthias affirms, managing director at the Timpor manufacturer.

Peat-free substrates have been - as they are ecological - much in trend for years. As developer and manufacturer of the Timpor wood fibre, Ziegler is one of the sector’s biggest suppliers in terms of peat substitutes.

High storage capacitiy ensures water balance
"The new fibre, which is stable in structure and nitrogen, is an ideal aggregate for substrates of all kinds thanks to its low volume weight and high water-storage capacity," Matthias says. "The water-storage capacity is comparable with the CocoPeat coconut fibre. For the use in substrates this means that, for instance, longer dry periods can be bridged or that the efforts for irrigation can be minimised."

Inspection bodies Grünstempel and RAL guarantee ecological value
Manufactured regionally according to the proprietary Timpor-process, the earth-coloured substrate fibre features 100% ecological value, confirmed by the German eco-inspection body Grünstempel. "A share of leonardite, a mineraloid, improves the soil. Furthermore, the product does not require impregnation or the addition of mineral fertilizers. The RAL Quality mark ensures a high degree of safety in terms of quality and consistency in the hobby range, as well as for the professional user."

Flexible Hightech fibre
The raw material wood undergoes a highly engineered, thermo-mechanical process to form wood fibre that is stable in structure and nitrogen. "This treatment ensures that the final product is 100% germ-free; even without additional impregnation. Through the high flexibility during production, the fibre strength can be refined precisely, which in turn has positive effects on the drainage characteristics for the use in diverse substrates. In addition, the consistent quality assurance guarantees a stable nitrogen balance," Matthias adds. If requested, optional colouring of the fibre for optically homogeneous substrate is possible.

Delivery to substrate producers is carried out in Big Bales or in loose form by truck. The Gregor Ziegler GmbH currently uses the new fibre among others in its Pro Natur substrate range.
