Waitrose today has unveiled two new exciting appointments for the positions of Trading Director and Director of Online.
Following a competitive internal and external recruitment process, Charlotte di Cello has been appointed as Director of Trading for Waitrose, whilst existing Waitrose Partner, Laura Burbedge, is appointed to the permanent role of Online Director.
Charlotte di Cello will join Waitrose on 18 January 2021 from Leon, where she is currently Chief Commercial Officer, having previously gained significant experience in the retail and grocery sector in former roles across Trading, Finance and Strategy teams at Sainsbury’s. She succeeds Rupert Thomas (current Commercial Trading Director) who is leaving the Partnership at the end of the year after 17 years.
Laura Burbedge has been fully appointed to Online Director for Waitrose from 4 January 2021, having performed the role on an interim basis since October 2020. She has played an integral role in the successful growth of Waitrose’s online business this year as the supermarket parted ways with Ocado, with Waitrose.com now the only place for customers to purchase Waitrose own label products online.
James Bailey, Waitrose Executive Director, comments: “Both roles are pivotal to the delivery of the Waitrose strategy to ensure we maintain our leading market position on quality, ethics, availability and value for customers.”
