Succulents have been trending for nearly 15 years, and their popularity is showing no signs of slowing down. "The more popular they get the more different types are wanted and consumers can’t seem to get enough. However, for the grower, finding these different and unique options is not always easy", explains Bill Steen, General Manager at Fleurizon. This US broker company imports starting material of all kind of plants from all over the world. Over the years, they've built up a broad assortment of succulents and they are noticing an increase in demand for the more rare and unique varieties.

According to Steen, the demand for this diverse class of plants over the years has much to do with their ease of care, helping consumers have much success. "Whether planting in outdoor landscapes, live walls and roofs, or as houseplants these plants have many applications making them a popular choice for any consumer."

"Many young plant, wholesale and retail production growers are planning to dedicate more bench space to producing these high demand items hoping to keep up with the demand and stay ahead of the trend," he says.
Popular varieties
Fleurizons succulent range increased sharply over the last years. Currently, the assortment consists of close to 200 varieties. "So, if a grower is looking for a particular variety, there is a good chance he can find it in our assortment,", he laughs.
Many of the different varieties are catching the attention nowadays, but according to Bill, there are some varieties standing out in particular among growers and consumers. "These items should be part of any production plans."
