VitroPlus has invested in two additional climate cells from Dawson Group. With this move, the company from Burgh-Haamstede has increased their cultivation capacity in order to meet the ever-increasing demand for ferns.
"The conditions are extremely important in our cultivation and in the Dawson cell we can work with UV, sterile air and good temperature control. A special cooling unit has also been built into the cell," says sales manager Vincent van Vuuren. "Moreover, the ease of use is great. They are close to plug-and-play. You drive in the cultivation trolleys and you can get started right away."
The purchase follows good experiences with a previous model. The most recently rented model is the extra long and high SB44 high roof, so that VitroPlus can optimally load the unit with the special cultivation trolleys. The climate can be monitored via a Cloud environment. The unit has a light switch with a controller and switch box and air socks for an even air distribution. There is also a fresh air supply.
"Under normal circumstances we have enough growing space, but during the peak period we need extra capacity," Vincent concludes. “In the Dawson cell, we can store three growing rounds during our peak period with a total of 20 LED trolleys each round. Each trolley has 15 cultivation layers with 240 trays each that are worth slightly more than 600,000 plants per cultivation cycle and almost 2 million plants in total. This means we are gaining considerable capacity, which makes it an ideal solution for us."
