For the 13th time in a row, a jury of experts of the Südtiroler Gärtnervereinigung has selected a special plant for the coming gardening season from among numerous new plants. The winner this year is the “Amazonia White with Eye” from the Lazzeri young plant company in Merano-Italy.
"The cooperation between South Tyrolean young plant companies and retail nurseries is a particular concern of ours," says Valtl Raffeiner, chairman of Südtiroler Gärtnervereinigung (the South Tyrolean Gardeners' Association). “For this reason, a jury of experts visits all young plant nurseries in the region and selects a special specimen from the abundance of new products, which will be named Plant of the Year. The novelty is available exclusively in those South Tyrolean nurseries that are members of the Südtiroler Gärtnervereinigung. "The" Plant of the Year ”has its own labels.
Thanks to the preselection by expert gardeners, the range of the Plant of the Year is made up of varieties that are visually attractive but also versatile and very easy to care for.
Andrea Lazzeri, from the Lazzeri young plant company in Merano-Italy knows all about the advantages of this new plant. “The “Amazonia White with Eye” lives up to its name. An Amazon is a fighter and with this quality, she convinces as an uncomplicated permanent bloomer until late autumn. It defies wind and weather and withstands even the strongest solar radiation. With its deep green leaves and large flowers that shine in white and red, it heralds summer. White and red stand for love and freedom. A plant, made for our time."
The strong growth of the novelty is reminiscent of the strength of an Amazon who never gives up and always wins, because the new interspecific pelargonium inspires with its irrepressible flowering pleasure as a single plant, as well as in combination with other plants in pots, hanging baskets and window boxes.
In keeping with the strong and lovely plant, this time the singer Sophie Rabanser is sponsoring the new “Amazonia White with Eye”: She loves flowers and plants and in addition to the great novelty, she presents her latest song, “So ist mein Welt”, which on May 1st will be released.
The song is about her very colorful and musical life, it conveys joie de vivre and the boundlessness of music, so this song also combines well-being and power, just like the new geranium conveys “well-being and strength”.
The gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle have been the ideal showcase for the presentation of the “Plant of the Year” for 13 years.
