The current scarcity of plastics is partly the result of the improving global economy. This causes exceptional price increases in the raw materials market for the production of plant trays. As a result, the prices of Normpack plant trays will change as of 31 May 2021.
Usually, the company adjusts the prices of single-use packaging twice a year - in January and July. Unfortunately, they are currently obliged to implement the price change earlier. Any other price adjustments for single-use packaging will be made as of 5 July.
Shortage of plastics cause of price increase
In addition to the improving global economy, the current shortages in the plastics market are also caused by lower production of plastics. New material is scarcer than recycled material. As a result, the prices increases of transparent trays are larger than the increase of the black and red-black trays.
It is unusual that we have to adjust our packaging prices as an interim measure. And we are aware that this could potentially cause you some inconveniences. However, the raw material markets have been disrupted and it is unclear how the prices will develop during the period ahead. As a result, we cannot rule out any further price adjustments. Of course, we will communicate this to you ahead of time", Normpack announces.
