US (FL): Flower delivery industry saw boom amid pandemic

BloomsyBox.com founder Juan Palacio discussed with Yahoo Finance how his flower delivery business has grown amid the pandemic.

"It was a crazy Mother's Day. We saw a huge spike in demand for our product during the pandemic. We grew a little over 300% last year. Because of the pandemic, more and more people are sending flowers to their loved ones and people just wanted to have flowers around them as flowers help improve people's moods. More and more people are finding out the convenience of having flowers delivered straight to your door," Palacio explains.

Palacio adds, however, that transporting the flowers was an issue. They normally use delivery services such as FedEx, but they were prioritizing the transportation of COVID vaccines over other products. "We even had to throw away fresh flowers that were sitting in the warehouses but we could not get delivered in time. It was a real challenge but we had to be creative and found small trucking companies to solve most of our problems."
