Mother's Day in Poland is a huge floral holiday and floral purchases in supermarkets are increasing every year, explains Bohdan Tustanivskyi of Profiflora, who visited several supermarkets on Mother's Day, which fell on May 26th this year. "The reputation of flowers in supermarkets is getting better and better."
Important holiday
Supported by television advertising, a lot of billboards, social content advertising, discounts, special offers and proposals, Mother's Day in Poland is a very important holiday celebrated by many people who are visiting their parents. And flowers play a major role.
Improved reputation supermarket flowers
Since the pandemic, millions of people have bought flowers at supermarkets and experienced that these 'cheaper' priced flowers can still be fresh and of good quality, resulting in a better reputation of these supermarket flowers, explains Tustanivskyi. An important reason that contributes to this better quality products and therefore better experience is that the location, shelf presentation and care. "Flowers are increasingly more receiving a priority place near the cash desk or in the best traffic zones and each morning, the staff sort the flowers that are left and are carefully checking the freshness of the flowers."
Less flowers for Mother's Day in the supermarkets.
This year, there were less flowers in the shops, Tustanivskyi explains. "Polish retail was well prepared this year but the orders from main retailers was restrained. If we compare with last year's the number of flowers per shop was smaller. It can be different reasons: from one side incomprehensible times, from the other side lack of cheap flowers." Tulips and roses are very popular and this year, the tulips broke price records and the supply of roses could not meet the demand."
Good sales
All in all, the sales were good. "Most people know that supermarkets can be the last place where they can buy flowers even before midnight."
Next important holiday for supermarkets
After hard days all suppliers and supermarkets starts to work for next flower Polish celebration which is 25th of June; the last School day.
