China: Evergrande introduces modern flower greenhouse to help Yanghe Village

In the Phalaenopsis Planting Smart Greenhouse in Yanghe Village, Yangcun Town, Boluo County, 52-year-old Ms. Wang Shaoying is transplanting seedlings for Phalaenopsis, earning 8 cents from planting a seedling. She can plant 1,500 plants a day and earn 3,000 RMB a month. Since 2019, many villagers like her have returned to their hometowns for employment. Now there are 60 villagers working in the flower base.

Yanghe Village is a provincial-level poverty-stricken village. The transformation began in July 2017. Evergrande Group donated 400 million RMB to help Huizhou and successively injected more than 44 million RMB in poverty alleviation funds into the village. This village has since opened its doors for a “blooming” change.

Modern greenhouses to alleviate local poverty and increase income
Yanghe Village is a traditional rice-growing village. Due to the influence of the climate, it is prone to drought and water-logging, and its planting and breeding are not large-scale. Local people agree that industrial poverty alleviation is the most direct and effective way, and it is also a long-term solution to enhance the function of poor villages and help its people find jobs on the spot.

With the smart flower greenhouse built by Evergrande Group, the operator of the flower base in Yanghe Village, Huizhou Yanghe Agriculture Co., Ltd. invested more than 20 million RMB to build a Phalaenopsis tissue culture room (also known as "the plant cloning factory"), which started operations in June this year and can “clone” 30 million Phalaenopsis seedlings a year. "Our orchids are cultivated without soil, with higher technical content, and can be exported," said Mr. Lin Huihong, manager of Huizhou Yanghe Agricultural Co., Ltd.
