Hailstones, some as big as tennis balls, hit Germany last week. These caused significant damage. Like at a grower in the Reutlingen in Baden-Württemberg. Most of one of his greenhouses is destroyed.
There was also extensive damage elsewhere in Germany. The storm hit on Wednesday, June 23 June. On that day, there were about 100 damage reports. On Friday, property insurer Gartenbau Versicherung estimated the damage at between €5 and €10 million.
The hail largely destroyed this ornamental plant grower's greenhouse.
Farmers with outdoor crops also suffered considerable damage.
