US (FL): TPIE is coming to an end

“The tropical market is strong”, says Lars Jensen with Blackmore. As we speak, they are exhibiting at the Tropical Plant International Expo (TPIE) in Tampa, Florida. There, they showed their new product concept Rootzone PlantItFriendly, for the first time. Today is the final day of this 3-day event and in this article, we give a small impression of the show and what's on display.

At the booth of Blackmore, they showcased their new product concept Rootzone PlantItFriendly. “Our Air Tray solution allows growing plants without plastic pots, thus reducing the amount of soil being used, ensuring a better root system, and decreasing plastic use by 95%. Combined with the automation options, it’s a well-known solution among growers. But it doesn't look like much consumer friendly,” says Lars. That’s why together with a European supplier, they created a paper sleeve, a simple and slick solution to address the aesthetics of the Ellepot. “The paper sleeve can be custom printed or left generic and is waterproof for 2-3 weeks. It shows the plants' aesthetics to the consumer, while still reducing the plastic use by 95 percent.”

It is too early to take stock of the show, as visitor statistics have not been published, yet. However, before the show took off, expectations were high already; the organization reported that buyers and attendees from 45 states and 22 nations were pre-registered to attend TPIE.

Today (January 21) is the last day of the show. Eager to know what to expect? Check it out.
