China: Rose cultivation in Yunnan sets innovative energy saving and emission reduction measures to achieve carbon neutrality

In the Yunnan Anning Rose Modern Industrial Plantation, using carbon dioxide to increase the photosynthesis efficiency of roses can raise the annual output of high-grade rose cut flowers from 60,000 per mu to 150,000 to 160,000 per mu.

Through soilless cultivation and fully automated management, Anning Rose Modern Industrial Plantation has built the world's most advanced Priva integrated water and fertilizer circulation system. With intelligent control, the system can irrigate the flowers automatically, create a formulation of fertilizer smartly, apply the fertilizers automatically, and monitor and adjust the environmental conditions such as temperature, light, water, moisture, and gas automatically. It can also irrigate flowers and plants regularly and quantitatively, so as to achieve fine control. The utilization rate of water and fertilizer in the plantation is close to 100%.

It is worth mentioning that carbon dioxide is also smartly used in the planting process of roses. By increasing the concentration of carbon dioxide in greenhouses, the growth of rose will be promoted according to the mechanism of photosynthesis. A third-party company is entrusted to collect industrial waste gas and purify the carbon dioxide to supply the rose plantation. This not only improves the utilization rate of waste gas but also reduces the carbon dioxide emission to the atmosphere, and it can also help grow high-quality flowers.

Using carbon dioxide to grow flowers is a useful attempt to increase the utilization of resources, help enrich green practices, and promote the synergy of pollution reduction and carbon reduction. Moreover, using carbon dioxide to grow flowers is not complicated at all. You just need to lay another pipe in the existing drip irrigation belt. The proportion of high-grade roses grown by conventional farmers can reach 30% to 40%. However, using this smart way to plant flowers in greenhouses, the proportion of high-grade rose cut flowers can be increased to 60%, and the annual output can be increased from 60,000 to 150,000 to 160,000 per mu.

Anning Northward Flower Industry Company launched an upgrading project for the intelligent modern flower planting demonstration garden in 2020, and the construction of the project is advancing in an orderly manner. At the same time, a monomer film greenhouse covering an area of more than 150 mu is also under intensive construction, which will produce up to 30 million cut flowers per year. This will be the largest monomer greenhouse for flower cultivation in Asia, and its annual output value is expected to exceed more than 40 million yuan.
