Lazzeri’s genetics scoop 3 out of the 6 awards

Superba New Glitter and Alaska winners of Glastuinbouw Nederland Quality Award Poinsettia 2021

On Thursday January 20, the traditional variety comparison of the association Glastuinbouw Nederland and Royal FloraHolland took place for the "Kwaliteits competitie Poinsettia 2021"  (quality competition Poinsettia). Italian breeder and young plant supplier Lazzeri Società Agricola is pleased that several growers growing their varieties have been awarded.

Martin Freek vd Velden with the award.

In the category 12 cm pot, grower Martin Freek vd Velden won with Superba New Glitter for the third consecutive year, 2019, 2020 and now also 2021. In the category 10.5cm pot, Nick van OS of SV.CO and in the category 12cm pot, Jan van Straaten of Stadsweiden both won with the variety Alaska.

Andrea Lazzeri, Global Product Manager of Lazzeri Società Agricola is very proud. "These are news and signs that make us especially proud because they give us confirmation that this variety, not only is beautiful, blooms at the right time and versatile but is also durable by the end consumer", he says when talking about Superba New Glitter.

Jan van Straaten receiving the award.

And he is particularly proud that two growers won with his variety Alaska. "Out of the 6 categories, 2 growers won with Alaska, which has become a reference variety for its pure white."

Nick van Os receiving the variety.

"The contrast between pure white bractea and dark green leaves is excellent, versatile in cultivation, good for 6 cm to XXL pots, it is a variety that withstands transport well and remains beautiful for a long time to the final consumer, what more could you wish for from a white poinsettia variety?"

Three out of the 6 categories
In total, awards have been handed out to growers in 6 different categories; pot size till 11cm in red and color, pot size 12+13cm in red and color, and 14 cm and bigger in red and color. See below the winners per category. As you can see, the 3 of Lazzeri's genetics won an award.
