On 28 January the management of Deliflor Hoogveld, together with its shareholders Deliflor Chrysanten B.V. and Kreling Beheer B.V., drove the first pile of a new rooting site in Nieuwaal, the Netherlands.
Jan Kreling (director Kreling Beheer), Otto van Tuijl (director Deliflor Hoogveld), Peter Zaat (director Deliflor Chrysanten), Arend Hertsenberg (manager operations Deliflor Chrysanten) and Jan Gerritsen (technical employee and advisor Deliflor Hoogveld) drove the first pile of a new rooting site for chrysanthemum cuttings in Nieuwaal.
This new Deliflor Hoogveld location is a replacement for the existing rooting company in Bruchem and offers the opportunity to meet the ever-increasing demand for rooting capacity for Chrysanthemum cuttings.
Multi-layer cultivation
The new location will be equipped with the latest innovative techniques. The chrysanthemum cuttings will be rooted on a mobile roller table system in a so-called multilayer cultivation. The bottom two of three layers are completely closed and therefore daylight-free. Here, the roots are developed under ideal conditions with the help of a limited amount of LED light. When the young cuttings have formed their roots, they are moved to the third, upper layer. In this final stage of rooting, natural daylight in combination with 150 micromol full LED assimilation lighting is used to cultivate the end product as optimally as possible.
This innovative multilayer cultivation offers a high degree of flexibility and efficiency and also contributes to the sustainable realization of a high-quality product. The new rooting location is expected to be ready for use at the end of 2022. Deliflor Chrysanthemums and Kreling Chrysanthemums have taken a great step forward in the field of sustainable innovation within chrysanthemum cultivation.
