Did you know that when you grow and sell Soiree Kawaii catharanthus, you're also supporting Girls Inc.? Suntory Flowers chose this cause to reflect the spirit of our Soiree Kawaii girl brand identity. She's tiny but tough and resilient in the summer garden, a real dynamo. Kawaii also means cute in Japanese. Last year's Soiree Kawaii sales generated $18,535 for the organization, bringing the grand total to nearly $29,000.
Founded in 1864, Girls Inc. inspires all girls to be strong smart and bold through direct service and advocacy through a network of local organizations in communities and schools. Through 78 affiliates this reach extends to 1,600 sites in 350 cities throughout the United States and Canada to support 134,000 girls ages 5-18.
"With Suntory Flowers' support Girls is better equipped to provide the mentoring relationships, safe spaces and evidence-based programming to help girls succeed,' says Laila Tai, director of individual giving and corporate partnerships. ' Girls build the knowledge to break past barriers and confidently step forward to grow as leaders to affect change in their lives and communities."
Suntory Flowers also continued its charitable partnership with Perino's Home and Garden Center near New Orleans supporting Covenant House with a matching contribution of $3,040 toward the total of $6,080 to help homeless youth. The Perino family presented the donation to Covenant House before Christmas along with a 15-foot Christmas tree.
