After the first issue of the new marketing magazine in 2021 with a focus on bedding and balcony, now follows the second issue with a focus on Perennials, Poinsettias, and Kalanchoe for 2022. The readers learn more about the variety of possibilities for the late summer and autumn of the Autumn Friends and the special features of the outstanding Poinsettia variety Christmas Universe. Another topic is the Kalanchoe series Kaleida® and the presentation of the associated marketing concept. Reviews of events in 2021 and an overview of Poinsettia trends and the matching Selecta varieties round off the magazine.
The Selecta variety highlights, which would have been seen at IPM, promise a varied flower and plant year 2022 and high-quality products for growers and for the market. Poinsettias:
Christmas Universe
Once again, Selecta one succeeded in producing a big hit: Christmas Universe. With its intense dark red color, coupled with high-quality foliage, upright and streamlined growth with thick, V-shaped stems and good, stable branching, Christmas Universe is the high-flyer of the season and the name on everyone’s lips.
Ice Princess
Selecta's new pure white Poinsettia and stand-alone variety grows compact and has good branching. It has a medium-early reaction time. It is accompanied by an independent marketing concept that creates high attention and recognition value.
Bedding and balcony plants:
Verbena series Drums
This series has delighted producers and demand has exceeded expectations. Due to its simple production method, untrimmed and almost without the use of inhibitors, this series meets all the requirements of a modern product. Early flowering and compact, high area productivity, strong appearance at the point of sale, excellent flowering properties at the consumer – Drums define Verbena in a whole new way. Currently, the series consists of eight varieties. The series is supported by an attention-grabbing marketing concept with the slogan "Drums - take the lead!".
Verbena Mr. LavaLava
With its exceptionally bright orange-red flower colour, the new Verbena Mr. LavaLava® attracts all eyes. It convinces with earliness and a wide branching. Its growth is flat and creeping, which makes it ideal for covering areas and as a ground cover. But also, in hanging baskets it comes into its own. It can be combined in many ways and always stands out with its unique flower colour and strong signal effect. For the consumer it has a continuous flowering without summer break. A unique appearance and therefore a real highlight.
SKYfamily Petunias
The SKYfamily by Selecta has some eagerly awaited new additions: The tried and tested Glowing Sky, with its bright red color and typical starry sky pattern. This variety is the only one of its kind on the market. It is also joined by: Pink Sky, Cherry Sky, and Carmine Sky. Selecta provides all the color variants in this pattern in superior quality and from a single source. These varieties are easy to produce – using similar production methods to the Famous series. The tried and tested SKYfamily marketing concept is compatible with and applicable to all SKY varieties.
Dianthus:

This variety has double flowers with delicate, wavy edges. Its flowers celebrate an extraordinary and unique play of colors as they develop. They change their appearance and change colors from pink to lighter pink and finally to white. The variety has compact growth and shows a round appearance. Not only the appearance of the variety, but also the name in combination with the concept surprises and inspires.
