Columbia Road Flower Market filled with smiling Londoners as city begins 'new normal'

From busier commuter trains to hordes of tourists in Oxford Circus, London’s move towards a ‘new normal’ has been increasingly evident over the past few weeks. However, one surefire sign of the capital’s post-Omicron revival is the return of joyful crowds to Columbia Road Flower Market this weekend.

Located in East London’s Bethnal Green between Brick Lane and Spitalfields, Columbia Road Flower Market is a popular street market packed with colourful blooms, houseplants, bulbs and more that takes place every Sunday between 8am and 3pm. And as new photos from MyLondon reveal, London’s favourite flower stalls were thronged with smiling Londoners ahead of Valentine’s Day, on Sunday, February 13.

Visitors of all ages took to the quaint Victorian street off Hackney Road to purchase everything from hand-selected bouquets of eucalyptus and red roses wrapped in brown paper to gigantic green plants. Others opted for vibrant sprays of yellow flowers or simple bundles of bright purple lavender.

The joy among the visitors at Columbia Road Flower Market was clear despite the grey weather. Many held up their flowers triumphantly for photos or posed for snaps with their friends.
