At the coming FlowerTrials show of Florensis in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht (14-17 June) the new variety Perovskia Bluesette, bred by PanAmerican Seed, will be jointly introduced by Florensis, Graines Voltz, and Ball. Perovskia Bluesette is compact branching and early Perovskia from seed and is an alternative to vegetative varieties. The compact Bluesette is for the market in patio containers or mixed combos but also works at the front of the border.
Bluesette is a novelty type that brings added value and appeals to a variety of garden spaces. It features ornamental foliage and a pleasing fragrance that attracts bees and butterflies.
The New Blues
Bluesette is named after a relatively unknown jazz reference. A bit like Perovskia, it’s the known unknown for most gardeners, a blue alternative next to the well-known blue varieties. It has an early flowering window, silver foliage, easy maintenance, drought tolerance, and a pollinator-friendly habit.
