Dümmen Orange was one of three finalists for the Plantum Sustainability Award on 22 September, together with Koppert Cress and Vitalis. This prize, awarded by the Dutch trade association Plantum, rewards tangible, sustainable initiatives from the breeding and propagation industry. Entries are being judged on originality, impact on society, inspiration for the industry, and workability and sustainability. The independent jury ultimately declared Koppert Cress as the winner of the 2022 edition.
Dümmen Orange had put forward Intrinsa, a sustainability game changer. Improving plant genetics with Intrinsa™ provides resistance to common diseases. This makes crops more sustainable and reliable: less use of chemical pesticides, less yield losses, and improved reliability in the supply chain.
It was the second time that Dümmen Orange finished high. In 2019 we won the top prize (together with Koppert) for GreenGuard, our Integrated Pest Management approach.
