Dümmen Orange and Schneider to collaborate on rooting and sales of perennials

Breeder Dümmen Orange and Schneider Youngplants are set to start collaborating on the rooting and sales of perennials in Europe. Dümmen Orange is relocating its perennial rooting operations from its site in Rheinberg, Germany, to Schneider’s facility in Woudrichem in the Netherlands. Schneider will also handle sales transactions for products rooted by them. The collaboration, which will take effect in January 2023, will enable both partners to better meet the needs of the links in the supply chain, resulting in further growth in the perennials segment.

‘This arrangement will give the quality and reliability of our products a boost,’ says Tristian Bentvelsen, Managing Director of Annuals, Perennials & Pot Plants EMEA at Dümmen Orange. ‘Dümmen Orange’s strength is developing genetic material and producing unrooted cuttings. Schneider’s modern facilities provide the perfect conditions for raising starting material for our extensive range of perennials. Growers, the trade, and retailers will undoubtedly value this pooling of strengths.’

‘A focused team guarantees product quality,’ says Schneider Product Manager Geert-Jan Aaldering. ‘Added to this is our strong distribution network across more than 40 countries. This collaboration will create a broad sales network across Europe and will enable us to service the market better and more quickly. The combination of our existing range from seed and cuttings from Dümmen Orange will offer the customer a total package for perennials.’

Schneider is a Dutch family business that was established in the mid-1960s, and has since specialized in producing young plants, first in Ridderkerk and, since 2021, at its new site in Woudrichem. Schneider Youngplants’ specialism is raising young plants from seed and cuttings in the annual, biennial, pot plant, perennial, and cut flower segments. It has several highly experienced and committed young plant specialists on its staff, something that is also reflected in the professional support provided for growers. At Schneider, the four basic principles for professional collaboration are personal contact, craftsmanship, quality, and transparency.
