It took no more than 20 seconds, but after midnight on 1 January, Tielemans Groentekwekerij in Boekel pulled off a playful stunt that turned the sky above his greenhouse pinky-purple. For a brief moment, the growers opened their blackout curtains, which allowed the LED light to create a light show as an alternative to the usual Dutch fireworks.
Grower René Tielemans tells Omroep Brabant he has had positive reactions and wants to make it an annual tradition. "This year, we did it at 00:23, and next year at 00:24. So we will always do the last two digits of the new year."
