German garden center burned down by fireworks on New Year's Eve

Gartenbau-Versicherung received their first loss report of the year on New Year's Day. On New Year's Eve, a firework rocket set fire to a horticultural and floristry business in the Bergisches Land region of North Rhine-Westphalia. The property damage runs into the hundreds of thousands, they report.

The fire originated in a greenhouse with PMMA roofing. Despite immediate attempts to extinguish the fire, the greenhouse facilities with the working hall burned down completely. The fire also spread to the residential buildings. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Risk consultant Thomas Stiller from the field service of the horticulture insurance made itself immediately a picture locally. In the meantime, coordination with experts and restoration companies has already taken place. Now the planning for the reconstruction begins.
