NL: Quarterly flower and plant export turnover takes a step backwards

Dutch flower and plant exports will close the first quarter of 2023 with an export value of almost €2 billion. This was announced by the Vereniging van Groothandelaren in Bloemkwekerijprodukten (Association of Wholesalers in Floricultural Products) on the basis of Floridata export statistics. The export value of both flowers and plants shrank by 4%.

"Beforehand, the estimates about the first quarter were quite negative, but it was not that bad at all," reports Jan van Dam, CEO of Dutch Flower Group. "After ten consecutive months of contraction, March saw a plus. That offers a perspective for the run-up to Mother's Days and other giving moments," says Matthijs Mesken, director of the VGB. Traders are cautiously positive about the course of the next quarter.

In the video below, Jan van Dam (CEO of Dutch Flower Group), Matthijs Mesken (director VGB), and Wesley van den Berg (manager Floridata) explain the figures.
