The most beautiful new rose breed of the year was honored at the 71st international rose novelty competition in Baden-Baden. Kordes' floribunda Spotlight® was awarded this year's "Golden Rose of Baden-Baden" from 142 novelties by a jury of 100 rose experts from around the globe. Spotlight was bred by Kordes Roses in Germany and is a floriferous, delicate golden-yellow floribunda.
According to the jury, it is characterized by particularly even growth and good resistance to blackspot and mildew. Spotlight blooms in clusters, has a delicate scent, and is beautiful even in fading, as the jury pointed out. In addition, it makes a healthy impression even in intense heat.
The "Golden Rose of Baden-Baden" is considered one of Europe's most important rose awards, where new hybrid teas, floribundas, miniature and shrub roses, climbing roses, and its flowers, scent, and disease resistance are evaluated. Kordes has won the competition for the "Golden Rose of Baden-Baden" several times and is happy to continue this success story with its new variety Spotlight, which also just won the 116th "Concours International de Roses Nouvelles de Bagatelle" in Paris. Not only Spotlight was awarded in Baden-Baden, but also eight other Kordes varieties with prizes such as the honorary award for the best scented rose or the gold medal in the category "hybrid tea."
