DeZhou, Shandong:

“Our seedlings are exported to many countries”

"We provide various vegetable and flower seedlings for the market and have established a whole industrial chain model from tissue culture, seedling cultivation, planting, and sales. Up to the present, the base has cultivated more than 1,000 varieties. We produce more than 60 million seedlings annually," introduces Li Rui, head of Shandong Dezhou Pingyuan Shiji Feng.

Li Rui continues: "We were established in 2003, covering an area of more than 1,500 acres, with a modern plant tissue culture center and R&D center of 5,000 square meters, an intelligent seedling plant with a practical area of 30,000 square meters, and a high-standard solar greenhouse of 50,000 square meters."

"At present, we export our product to more than 10 countries, including Europe, the United States, Japan, and South Korea."

The company's leading products include tissue-cultured gerbera, alum root, daylily, hostas, North American hollies, cherry rootstock, and cherry trees.

Shandong is located in the north of China. In the early years, the cultivation of flower seedlings developed slowly in the north, especially the cultivation of seedlings, which was almost non-existent.

Aiming at this market opportunity, Shandong Dezhou Pingyuan Shiji Feng invested 35 million yuan to build a 2,800-square-meter tissue culture workshop and a 12,000-square-meter smart greenhouse for hardening seedlings.

It uses tissue culture "cloning" technology to breed new varieties of flowers and fruit trees. The annual output of tissue culture seedlings is more than 40 million, which fills the gap in China's northern market.

With the increase in market demand for flower seedlings, some new varieties with beautiful tree shapes, bright colors, and strong drought and waterlogging resistance have become new favorites in the market. In order to cultivate marketable varieties of flower seedlings, the base has built multiple aseptic culture rooms and cultivated new varieties under different growth environments.
