Takeaways from recent market visit:

"The Swiss are wealthy and love flowers and plants"

"Almost every player - wholesaler, florist, garden center or supermarket - indicates that high quality and freshness are crucial. Price is secondary in that context".

"In particular, the difference between the retail and wholesale segments is very clear."

"A characteristic feature is the durability of the B2B relationship. People often work with the same supplier(s) for decades."

These are just a few takeaways from a market visit that about six growers, accompanied by Royal FloraHolland market specialist Erwin Sneiders, made to the Swiss market last May. That market may not be the biggest, but it is of lasting importance as Swiss consumers are wealthy, appreciate luxury and a high standard of living, and also love greenery.
