Last week, on August 16 and 17, Flora Dania, the industry organization for potted plant nurseries, held their annual Flora Dania trade fair in collaboration with the Danish plant nurseries in Odense, Denmark.
19 tree nurseries and 54 potted plant producers
Nineteen tree nurseries transformed the parking area in front of the exhibition hall into a forest of trees, bushes, and perennials. Inside, 54 potted plant producers displayed their seasonal products with stands of various sizes. "The hall was turned into a flowery marketplace with cozy hang-out spots for visitors to do trading or just take a rest," says Line Hougaard Andersen, Project Leader of the fairs and marketing at Flora Dania.
800+visitors
The fair, which was held over two days, had over 800 both domestic and international visitors: including buyers/retailers from the Congo, USA, Poland, and the Netherlands.
Positive atmosphere
On both days, there was a buzzing of trade and bright hope for the industry's future. Once again, growers appeared to wear smiles on their faces after a tough 2022 with the war in Ukraine and the energy crisis, she explains. "You could really sense a positive atmosphere. Several growers, whom I have talked with reported that many of their products are sold out, and they say they've had a good season - especially compared to 2022. We are happy about that, hoping for the industry to recover from last year's struggles."
Next fair in October
The Flora Dania Trade Fair is held four times a year in March, June, August, and October. The next fair is on the 22nd of October and focuses mainly on Christmas plants and takes – as always – place on Logistikvej 25A, 5250, Odense, Denmark.
