Mechanical pruning is becoming more and more popular. One of the world's largest companies in the design and manufacture of pruning bars is Losi, based in Italy in the province of Bologna.
"We build bars that are applied to vineyard and orchard pruning equipment," said Roberto Losi, son of the founder. "We started more than 60 years ago as a small local company, and today, we have an international market."
More than 50 percent of Losi's production is exported. The United States, South America, and Germany are just some of the areas where sales have increased in the past year. "From design to final realization, everything is done in our facility. As I always tell our customers, our goal is to take the problems out of the companies' hands. To ensure long-lasting and professional use, we use high-quality components to prevent breakage."
"We have never tried to economize because no company that starts pruning and topping can afford to stop working and sit idle for too long."
Very often, customers ask for something special which does not fit into the existing standard. "In that case, we immediately involve our design department and try to fine-tune and then build what the customer wants. It's our way of dealing with globalization and standardization so that we can differentiate ourselves and be a global benchmark."
"Thanks to the accuracy in the execution, the repeated tests and inspections carried out on every single piece, we are able to guarantee a technologically advanced and cost-effective solution to all kinds of problems related to cutting and mowing," he concluded.
