Dutch nursery ready for the winter with 100% LEDs

Last month, Porta Nova completed its LED installation. The Dutch grower spent years researching and developing LED lighting with various LED light experts. They wanted to find the ultimate "light recipe" for roses.

You can precisely determine which color/illumination to use with LED lights. The installation began last year, and the second 50% was completed in September.

The Climator system harvests heat in the summer that is stored in a warmth buffer 100m below ground. That partially compensates for the Son-T's lack of heat. With efficient LED lighting, more than enough sustainable heat is now available to heat the greenhouse in winter.

The LED/Climators' heat combination means the nursery's lighting costs will be 40% lower this winter.

Besides sustainability and cost aspects, the grower expects even stabler production and quality because the roses will have the perfect light spectrum. The grower also hopes to deliver top-quality roses this winter and thus also for Valentine's Day in February next year.
