Some more greenhouse area in Westland has been transformed into vegetable garden, 4000 square meters along the Molenlaan in Honselersdijk. The greenhouse belongs to Van Dijk Flowers, which invested in technique renovation. Arjan Lievaart launched the initiative with help from consultant Theo van der Knaap and horticulturist Hans Verbeek.
Rob van Dijk, of the chrysanthemum company Van Dijk Flowers, said to Rodi that "it would have been a waste to demolish it, and this way people can enjoy it. And," he adds with a wink, "maybe I'm going to learn something from it myself." He is referring to the biological control that is central to Gaia. "I'm already experimenting with quail in my greenhouse to tackle the caterpillars. Although now they are also gnawing on the chrysanthemums," he said, laughing.
On Facebook, a video was shared showing the conversion process with a touch of humor.
