South Africa: Hartbeespoort Nursery breeds Agapanthus that flowers 100 days

The Aloe Farm in Hartbeespoort received more international recognition last week with the announcement by Royal FloraHolland that the Agapanthus varieties bred here flower for 100 days.

Standard Agapanthus typically blooms for about 35 days. Agapanthus varieties by De Wet Plant Breeders has been officially confirmed to last for a staggering three months. This groundbreaking announcement comes after an extensive assessment conducted by Royal FloraHolland.

The varieties developed by De Wet Plant Breeders, owners of The Aloe Farm, have the exceptional ability to flower for an extended period and thrives in planters during the patio tests. They received credit for their extraordinary pot performance.

“This confirmation is a significant breakthrough. Agapanthus by De Wet Plant Breeders has consistently demonstrated exceptional qualities, and now, with the official confirmation of an extended flowering period, its position as a top choice in ornamental plants is further solidified,” Plantipp said.
